Resilience in Higher Education: Experience and Practices

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Vitaliy Kobets, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, together with his colleagues from Kherson State University, participated in the event "Resilience in Higher Education," organized by American Councils for International Education.

Sunday, November 09, 2025

The event brought together alumni of the BridgeUSA programs and the Ukraine's Displaced Scholars Support Program to discuss a key topic—how to maintain the ability to function, develop, and recover amidst ongoing challenges.

During the meeting, the potential of HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) for forming niche Educational Programs (EPs), adult education, veterans' education, and ensuring the quality of EPs were considered. For displaced HEIs, the development of digitalization, non-formal education, and international programs were highlighted.

Key Discussion Topics:

✔️ Resilience at the personal, professional, and institutional levels ✔️ Recovery practices in teaching ✔️ Support systems for faculty during crisis periods ✔️ The role of academic leadership in creating a supportive environment.

Event Format

The program included a panel discussion with vice-rectors of leading Ukrainian universities—alumni of the BridgeUSA 2024 program, an interactive Q&A session, and a World Café for exchanging practical experience.

We thank American Councils for International Education for creating a space for professional dialogue and the exchange of best practices!
