On November 13, 2025, an event took place – the Round Table "Historical Excursion of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics (FCSMP)", dedicated to the rich history and development of the faculty, as well as the 108th anniversary of Kherson State University (KSU).
The participants, including faculty members, labour veterans, and guests, gathered to share memories and trace the path of the FCSMP's formation.
At the beginning of the event, the Dean of the Faculty presented an exclusive video, "Deans of the Faculty from 1917 to the Present Day", created specially for the 108th anniversary of KSU. This film served as a vivid reminder of the leaders who, at various times, steered the faculty, investing their efforts in its development.
The history of the Department of Physics was discussed by the Head of the Department, Professor Serhiy H. Kuzmenkov, and Yuriy K. Ivashyna. They shared personal memories of how they began their work at KSU and highlighted the key stages of the department's development.
The Department of Algebra, Geometry and Mathematical Analysis was represented by its Head, Volodymyr I. Tatochenko, and Valeriy I. Kuzmych. They elaborated on their professional journeys at the department. Mr. Kuzmych V.I. shared his experiences from his time serving as the Dean of the Faculty.
The history of the formation of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering as a separate unit, branching off from the Department of Mathematics, was illuminated by Associate Professor Liudmyla S. Shyshko and Senior Lecturer Iryna Ye. Chernenko. They were direct witnesses and active participants in this process.
Yakiv D. Plotkin, who worked at the Department of Algebra, Geometry and Mathematical Analysis until 2024, also joined the event. He shared many interesting and sentimental memories about his years of work at the department.
The Round Table "Historical Excursion" was not only an opportunity to recall important milestones of the past but also inspired faculty and students to achieve further success, emphasizing the unbreakable connection between generations and the continuity of the FCSMP's traditions.
