Students of Kherson State University won prizes in a student essay competition dedicated to Resolution No. 1325 ‘Women, Peace and Security’

Four female students from Kharkiv State University took an active part in the student essay competition ‘The content and significance of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 “Women. Peace. Security”’.

Students of Kherson State University won prizes in a student essay competition dedicated to Resolution No. 1325 ‘Women, Peace and Security’

Four female students from Kharkiv State University took an active part in the student essay competition ‘The Content and Significance of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 “Women, Peace and Security”’.

Among the participants, Daria Bukayeva won first place, Tetyana Kostetska took second place, Anna Gritchina won third place, and Yulia Khrystyuk took fourth place. The scientific support for the contestants was provided by Andriy Solomakhin, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian and Slavic Philology and Journalism at Kharkiv State University.

In their works, the students analysed the importance of Resolution No. 1325, the role of women in the security and defence sector, as well as in decision-making processes, the impact of war on women's rights and the reconstruction of Ukraine in the context of ‘Women. Peace. Security.’

The participants also took part in a round table to summarise the results of the regional communication campaign ‘Women. Peace. Security’, which took place on 30 October 2025 at the initiative of the Secretariat of the Coalition 1325 Kherson Region.

The event brought together experts, government officials and the public to discuss the effectiveness of communication tools and the further integration of the principles of Resolution No. 1325 into local programmes. In addition, a presentation of the collection ‘SNPC: A Crime Without a Statute of Limitations’ took place during the meeting.

Participation in the initiatives allowed students to deepen their knowledge of the principles of gender aspects of security, human rights, and post-war reconstruction.
