Motivational event "Career in the veterans' sphere for victory" - an event with elements of networking (presentation-acquaintance with the profession of "veteran support specialist") for master's degree graduates in the specialty "Social work", held by specialists of the Municipal Institution "Center for Providing Social Services" "Doviriya" (Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region)
On December 18, 2025, as part of the Week of Full-time Study at the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology, a motivational event "Career in the veterans' sphere for victory" - an event with elements of networking for master's degree graduates in the specialty "Social work". The event was held with the assistance of the Municipal Institution "Center for Providing Social Services" "Doviriya" (Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region). The presentation of the profession "veteran support specialist" took place as part of the event.
Veteran support specialist of the Center for Social Services "Doviriya" Boychuk Kateryna introduced the graduates to the key professional competencies and working tools (case studies) of the specialist, typical tasks, level of demand and advantages of this profession.
Support specialists are people who daily help veterans and their family members navigate support programs and receive the necessary services. The role of veteran support specialists is to be there when complex issues arise and to make interaction with the state clearer and more accessible, so their work covers a wide range of areas: from consultations on rights, statuses and social guarantees to support in housing, treatment, rehabilitation, employment or opening their own business. If necessary, specialists help with claims and applications, interact with military units regarding certificates, VLK or financial support, and also monitor that the veteran receives all the necessary services in the community.
Veteran support specialists are a bridge between veterans and the entire state support system, they help to go from question to result, provide support at every stage and make state services closer and more understandable.
During networking, master's students in the "Social Work" specialty learned more about who veterans are and what their needs are; they got acquainted with the peculiarities of veterans' adaptation after returning from the front, about working with military families, about rehabilitation support and assistance to veterans with employment and resocialization.
Thanks to an interview with veteran support specialist Boychuk K., graduate master's students learned in detail about working with PTSD in former military personnel, about the peculiarities of using technology to support veterans with disabilities, got acquainted with the list of social services for military families, and also immersed themselves in the specifics of professional ethics in working with military personnel and their family members.
During the event, graduate students had the opportunity to learn about the features of the functioning of the Municipal Institution, the Center for Providing Social Services "Doveria" (Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region).
