On March 3, within the framework of the international Erasmus+ BURN project, KSU launched the first wave of a 16-hour “Sensitivity Training for University Staff Working with Students Affected by War.”

The training, initiated by Larysa Tor, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, was held at the Center for Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing of Kherson State University

During the training, participants discussed:

  • types of psychological trauma and their impact on learning;
  • the neurobiology of trauma;
  • how traumatic experiences affect memory, concentration, and emotions;
  • how teachers can respond in a supportive way while creating a safe learning environment.

Participants worked with real-life cases, discussed the influence of traumatic experiences on the learning process, and explored practical tools for supporting students, as well as the importance of creating a safe and supportive educational environment.

The training was conducted within the framework of the international Erasmus+ BURN project (“Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing in (Post-) War Ukrainian Nation”).
