The Department of Ukrainian and Slavic Philology and Journalism at Kherson State University held a career guidance meeting for schoolchildren in the Kherson region.

Representatives of the Department of Ukrainian and Slavic Philology and Journalism of the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism and Arts of Kherson State University held a career guidance event for high school students of Kakhovka Specialised Secondary School No. 2 with in-depth study of foreign languages, Kakhovka Secondary School No. 3, and the Muzykovsky Support Lyceum.

Head of the Department Svitlana Mykolaivna Klymovych presented the educational programme ‘Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature’ and spoke about the training of future teachers and the career prospects of graduates. Lecturer Tamara Mandych informed students about studying philological specialities and the peculiarities of the educational process.

Andriy Solomakhin, guarantor of the educational programme ‘Journalism,’ spoke about the training of future journalists, the practical component of the educational process, and the prospects for working in the media. Valentina Pestushko, a student of the educational programme, also joined the meeting and shared her own experience of studying at the university and working in the field of journalism.

During the event, high school students familiarised themselves with educational programmes, learned about admission requirements, the peculiarities of the educational process and student life at Kherson State University.

At the end, the students had the opportunity to talk to the speakers, ask questions, and get more information about practical training and career prospects in the fields of philology and journalism.
