Leadership and Charisma: A Public Lecture by Oleksandr Spivakovskiy

On April 7, as part of the on-campus learning week, students, PhD candidates, and faculty members of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics at Kherson State University (KSU), alongside colleagues and students from Precarpathian National University, had the unique opportunity to attend a public lecture by the Rector of KSU, Oleksandr V. Spivakovsky, titled "Leadership and Charisma: A New Context of Harmony."

One might assume that IT and the exact sciences are exclusively about algorithms, code, and logic. However, during his lecture, Oleksandr Volodymyrovych demonstrated once again that:

Leadership is the architecture of a team's entire movement.

Charisma is the "energy protocol" that makes ideas vibrant and actionable.

In a post on his Facebook page, Oleksandr Spivakovsky noted:

"We spoke about leadership in connection with charisma. Why do people follow some leaders even without a clear plan, while others fail to inspire, even when their ideas seem convincing? For me, it is formulated like this: leadership creates movement, and charisma fuels that movement with energy. Leadership without charisma is possible, but it lacks integrity and that very sense of harmony. I aimed to speak not in abstractions, but through cases relevant to the audience. Naturally, a significant portion of the examples came from the life and transformations of Kherson State University."

For us, the Rector’s experience—rooted in the complex transformations of our university—serves as a living case study in crisis management and strategic vision. It is a testament to maintaining internal dynamics even with decades of experience at one's back.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Oleksandr  Spivakovsky for his candor and authenticity, and for inspiring everyone to find their own solutions rather than offering "template formulas." We also thank all participants for the intellectual drive, engagement, and thoughtful questions.
