World Press Freedom Day is celebrated annually on May 3. The date was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly back in 1993 as a response to the Windhoek Declaration adopted in Namibia – a call to governments of all countries of the world to ensure freedom and pluralism of the press.This day honors the memory of journalists from different parts of the world who paid with their lives for their professional activities.
