KSU students represented Ukraine at the Erasmus+ international youth exchange in Finland

From April 24 to 30, 2026, Kherson State University students participated in the Erasmus+ international youth exchange program “Our Cities, Our Voices,” held in Vaasa, Finland. Our university was worthily represented by Ilia Muzyka from the Faculty of Biology, Geography and Ecology, and Dariia Bukaieva from the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism and Arts.

Together with the youth councils of the cities of Kiel and Vaasa, the Ukrainian delegation spent extremely eventful days, during which the participants actively shared their experience of their activities, presented the cultural features of cities and countries, and discussed the key principles of democracy, inclusion and participation. Special attention was paid to practical tasks — in particular, modelling their own state through the eyes of young leaders.

One of the days of the program, April 27, was entirely dedicated to the Ukrainian delegation. Our students co-organised a number of events for European youth:

For Dariia Bukaieva, this project was her second experience of participating in Erasmus+ exchange programs. She became one of the organisers of the “Culture Day of Ukraine” and held an interactive energiser to get to know and unite international participants.

Ilia Muzyka successfully organised one of the team-building activities.

The Culture Evening was extremely profound and emotional for all participants:

Dariia, in partnership with a colleague, prepared and presented a thorough overview of Ukrainian music, spanning from its folk origins to the work of modern performers.

Ilia delivered an important speech about the course of the war in his native Kherson, highlighting the indomitable resilience and heroism of our people. The story deeply moved the Europeans and helped them better understand Ukrainian realities.

A symbolic flag exchange ceremony also took place as part of the official part: the Chairman of the Vaasa Youth Council was solemnly presented with the flag of the city of Kherson, and the Ukrainian delegation received the flag of their city from the Kiel Youth Council as a sign of strong partnership and support.
