KSU Students Represent Ukraine at Erasmus+ International Youth Exchange in Finland
From April 24 to April 30, students from Kherson State University participated in the Erasmus+ international youth exchange program "Our Cities, Our Voices," held in Vaasa, Finland.
KSU was proudly represented by Illia Muzyka (Faculty of Biology, Geography, and Ecology) and Daria Bukaieva (Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism, and Arts).
Alongside youth councils from the cities of Kiel and Vaasa, the Ukrainian delegation engaged in an intensive week of collaboration. Participants shared insights into their activities, presented the cultural features of their respective cities and countries, and discussed core principles of democracy, inclusion, and participation. A highlight of the program involved practical workshops where young leaders modeled their vision of an ideal state.
One full day of the program was dedicated to the Ukrainian delegation, with KSU students co-organizing several events for European youth.
For Daria Bukaieva, this project marked her second Erasmus+ exchange experience. She co-organized the "Culture Day of Ukraine" and led an interactive "energizer" session to foster networking and team spirit among international participants.
Illia Muzyka successfully organized a key activity during the team-building session, further strengthening the bonds between the groups.
The "Culture Evening" was a deeply emotional and profound highlight for everyone. Daria Bukaieva, in partnership with a colleague, prepared and presented a comprehensive overview of Ukrainian music history, tracing its journey from folklore roots to contemporary artists.
Illia Muzyka delivered a powerful speech about the ongoing war in his hometown of Kherson, emphasizing the unbreakable resilience and heroism of its people. His story deeply moved the European audience, providing them with a clearer understanding of the realities in Ukraine.
During the official part of the program, a symbolic flag exchange ceremony took place. The flag of the city of Kherson was solemnly presented to the Chairperson of the Vaasa Youth Council. In return, the Ukrainian delegation received the flag of Kiel from its youth council as a sign of strong partnership and unwavering support.
