A training on a trauma-informed approach in education was held at KhSU for the All-Ukrainian Day of the Psychologist

On April 23, on the occasion of the All-Ukrainian Day of the Psychologist, the final fourth training module of the trauma-informed approach in education was held at the Center for Psychological Stability and Well-Being of Kherson State University for participants in the educational process within the framework of the Erasmus+ BURN international project

(«Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing in (Post-)War

Ukrainian Nation»)

Friday, April 24, 2026

The training was conducted by Ruslana Bilous, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology at KSU.

During the event, the essence of mental health was considered as an important component of the general well-being of the individual. In particular, attention is focused on a person's ability to be aware of his own emotions, effectively cope with stress, maintain social ties and preserve a sense of the value of his own life.
Participants discussed the importance of caring for mental health, which contributes to improving well-being, developing self-confidence, increasing the level of social interaction and preserving internal resources.
Particular attention was paid to factors affecting mental health, including biological, social, economic and external circumstances, including conditions of uncertainty and the impact of war events. Typical psychological reactions to stress and possible consequences of long-term emotional exhaustion, such as sleep disturbances, emotional burnout, and decreased motivation, are considered.
In the practical part, the participants got acquainted with the basic strategies for supporting mental health, including:
● development of emotional self-regulation skills;
● use of breathing techniques (in particular, "square breathing");
● maintaining social contacts;
● maintaining a balance between work and rest;
● formation of individual resources of psychological stability.
Attention was also focused on the importance of everyone's personal responsibility for their own mental well-being.
Conducting such events contributes to raising the level of awareness of mental health issues, developing self-help skills, and forming a culture of psychological support in the educational environment.
We express our gratitude to all participants for their active participation, openness to new knowledge and joint work on the formation of a supportive educational environment.
The training took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ BURN international project
("Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing in (Post-) War
Ukrainian Nation").
