Let us recall that this holiday was established in February 1997 by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 145/97 (signed by Leonid Kuchma). The idea of its introduction belonged to prominent Ukrainian scientists, scientific institutions, and trade unions, who came up with a corresponding proposal to recognize the significant contribution of researchers to the development of the state.
