On July 12, 2026, the online training session “Soft Skills in Forced Emigration: How to Stay True to Yourself” was held, organised by the Ukrainian Educational Hub in the USA (EduHub in USA) in partnership with Rescue Now and AIDE. The event focused on developing soft skills, adaptation, effective communication, and emotional self-support among Ukrainians experiencing forced relocation.

The training session was led by representatives of the Department of Preschool and Primary Education at Kherson State University: Associate Professor Anastasiia Horlova and Lecturer Anastasiia Volianiuk.
Forced emigration involves not only moving to another country but also the need to adapt to a new social, cultural, and professional environment, build new connections, overcome language and communication barriers, and, at the same time, maintain inner resilience. This is why the development of soft skills is particularly important: these skills help people better understand their own needs and resources, interact more effectively with others, adapt to change, and find ways to support themselves in conditions of prolonged uncertainty.
The training had a strong practical focus and was built around active interaction with the participants. The key topics included self-awareness and personal resources, adaptability, emotional intelligence, stress resilience, effective communication, and the ability to ask for and accept help. Practical activities and group discussions enabled participants not only to gain new knowledge but also to reflect on their own experiences of forced emigration, identify their personal resources, and find concrete ways to support themselves in a new environment.
Particular attention was paid to developing communication and emotional self-support skills. Participants worked with real-life situations, discussed the challenges of adaptation, analysed their own ways of coping with difficult circumstances, and explored accessible techniques for restoring emotional balance.
An important part of the meeting was the open dialogue between the participants and the speakers. The training session was followed by a Q&A session, which provided an opportunity to discuss current issues related to adaptation and life in a new environment.
Such events create an important space of support for Ukrainians living abroad, helping them transform their personal experiences of overcoming difficulties into a conscious resource and develop the skills needed for adaptation, social interaction, and maintaining psychological resilience.
We would like to remind you that similar events have been organised upon request since 2025 in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation between the NGO “Association of Innovative and Digital Education” and Kherson State University.
