The conference was dedicated to the tragic events of the mass artificial famine of 1921-1923, which claimed half a million lives in Ukraine
Various views were expressed at the conference, in particular on the number of victims of the famine. This indicates that in the Ukrainian scientific society in particular, there is no common opinion on this issue. Using the methods of quantitative research and historical demography, taking into account the assistance provided to Ukraine by the ARA and the Joint, the Nansen mission and Verelif, Ukraine's losses cannot match the number of all starving people.
