International Museum Day appeared in the calendar in 1977, when the regular meeting of the ICOM (International Council of Museums - International Council of Museums) decided to establishment of this holiday. This day is an occasion to raise awareness about how museums are important in the development of society. In museums there is our acquaintance with accumulated knowledge and experience of mankind for many centuries and it is very important for identity formation, self-development rights. According to Jacques Perot, President of ICOM: «Museums should take place in the heart of society and be open to the public."
The first museum in our school there in 20-ies of XX century. In October 1998 the Rector, Professor Belyaev Y. approved the "On Museum at Kherson State Pedagogical University" was held reekspozytsiya museum. Reekspozytsiyu head held museum and archive center, a senior lecturer in pedagogy and psychology Samsakova Irina Vladylenivna - graduate of KSU 1979.
By the 85th anniversary of Kherson State University (KSU) in September 2002 opened a new museum of the history of the university. Exposition sections of the museum reveals the history and development of the University and covering the period from 1914 to the present. Thanks to the dedicated work of Irina Vladylenivny its high professionalism and love for his university, its history, the Museum of History of KSU became an important center of search and research, educational, career-oriented, scientific and technical activities.
The museum guides are community among students and conduct thematic excursions, always themed exhibitions on the anniversaries of schools, anniversaries of outstanding teachers, university professors.
On the basis of the museum conducted research work: searching for information about the history and outstanding graduates in the archives and libraries of Ukraine, replenishment "Book of honorary doctors", "Book of Honorary Professor", "Book of honorary workers", "Memory Book".
For achievements in the creation of exhibitions and educational work among the youth resolution of the board of the Culture Kherson Regional State Administration KSU Museum of History in 2002 was awarded the title of "People" in 2005 - Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine named a "Model". In 2008, 2012. Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine confirmed the title of "Model Museum".
Years go by, generations change, and museums are inexhaustible treasury of human memory, saving documents, photographs and personal belongings, memorials, gifts - everything that allows you to touch the soul of history.
