KHERSON STATE UNIVERSITY

 According to the Decision of the Academic Council of the University ( Record No. 11 of 03 July 2008) ‘On opening the departments of the Institute of Natural Sciences’, the Department of Human Health was opened at the Institute of Natural Sciences on 1 September 2008.

   On the basis of the Academic Council of the University (Record No. 1 of 28 August 2017) and due to the speciality designation, the Department of Human Health was renamed to the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Health.

    On the basis of the Decision of the Academic Council of Kherson State University ( Record No. 11 dated 23 April 2018) and in connection with the licensing of the speciality, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Health was renamed to the Department of Medicine and Physical Therapy on 25 April 2018.

    On the basis of the Decision of the Academic Council of Kherson State University (Record No. 13 dated 27 June 2018), in order to rationalise and improve the organisation of the educational process of the university, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Human Health and Tourism was renamed to the Faculty of Medicine on 27 June 2018.

          The Department of Human Health (now the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy) was established on 01 September 2008. 

   It has been training specialists since 2016 in the speciality 227 Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy. The specialists can work in sports medicine and rehabilitation centres, health resorts, specialised boarding schools for people with special educational needs, specialised educational institutions (sports schools, boarding schools, colleges), hospitals (Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy departments), fitness and SPA centres and more. The graduates of the speciality can hold the following positions: specialist in physical rehabilitation; massage therapist; sports massage therapist; instructor of physical therapy; instructor-methodologist in physical culture and sports in medical and health care institutions, educational and rehabilitation centres, academic and social protection institutions, sports training centres, sports teams

   On-the-job training and internship of students take place at the well-equipped bases of the best medical and rehabilitation institutions of the city and region, such as: Kherson Regional Cardiology Dispensary, Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after O. S. Luchanskyi", Kheson City Clinical Hospital named after A. and O. Tropins", "Kherson children's Regional Clinical Hospital",  Regional Rehabilitation Hospital of the Kherson Regional Council, Kherson Regional Center for complex rehabilitation of children with disabilities of the Kherson Regional Council, City Center for rehabilitation and rehabilitation treatment of the hospital named after A. and O. Tropins, Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after E. E. Karabelesh, Kherson regional center of public health, etc.
   Scientific Exchange and internship: Sumy State University, Higher Educational Institution "Donbas State Pedagogical University", Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University, Zaporizhzhia National University, Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture and others.

  Since 2012, Kherson State University has been providing part-time and full-time education in the speciality of Physical Rehabilitation.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, the Department passed licensing of speciality 227 Physical Rehabilitation (Master degree).
